DEFINITIONS

Recreational Classes (Rec.)

Recreational classes are fun classes where dancers will learn and work on a choreographed dance for the dance season. At the end of the dance season, they will perform their dance in Capella Dance Academy’s Year End Show. Depending on the commitment of the dancers, a group may attend 0-1 competitions.

Regular Competition Classes (Comp.)

Competition classes are where dancers will learn and work on a choreographed dance for the dance season. Dancers will be placed in classes based on their dance experience. All dancers taking Regular Competition classes must also take either Ballet or a Tech class. Regular attendance is required. They will also be taking their dance to 1 or 2 dance competitions. The average cost for each dancer to enter competition is $30-$37 per dancer, per dance, in each competition. Dancers may have to miss school if their competition falls on a school day. At the end of the dance season, they will perform their dance in Capella Dance Academy’s Year End Show.

High Competition Classes

For Junior to Advanced levels, ages 8 and up, with 6 years minimum of dance training. Dancers must meet all of the prerequisites placed by the instructor for this group. Dancers will be placed into this group and given the option to either accept or move back to regular competition level. High Comp. will attend 3 or 4 competitions in a dance season. This is for our highly committed dancers. Regular attendance is required. All High Competition dancers must also take Ballet and Tech, as well as 1 Regular Competition class. Dancers may have to miss school if their competition falls on a school day. The average cost for each dancer to enter competition is $30-$37 per dancer, per dance for each competition. At the end of the dance season, they will perform their dance in Capella Dance Academy’s Year End Show. Email for the list of Adv. High Comp. Prerequisites, master classes, etc.
